Are you weary of dunking all the couch cushions in Fabreeze
before visitors arrive? Are you tired of the inviting stench of 'A Baby Lives
Here' when you stroll through the door?
Oh! The fecal funk.
Nothing says "welcome to parenthood" like the
whiff of sulfur anus early in the day.
Badly, not every one of us can afford to place our
offspring's post-digestive matter inside a solid 24-karat gold diaper pail with
5,000 rubies, sapphires, and diamonds like the royal family.
For every one of the plebeians out there forced to put their
baby's additional excrement into unadorned and unsparkly trash containers… this
post is for you.
Common sense stinky diaper pail solutions
These solutions use the 'common sense' approach to problem
solving. I still thought I'd mention, them, however, because when you're
averaging 5 hours sleep at night, "sense" truly isn't too common.
That is the reason you have me.
To state the obvious to those who are oblivious to the fact
they are obvious.
- Throw poopy diapers specifically into the outside canister (you know, for the neighbors), or dump the solids straightforwardly into the toilet before tossing the diaper itself.
- Every evening spray a disinfectant spray, like Lysol, into the pail.
- Vow to never permit the diaper tally to rise over 10 or 12 before removing.
- Replace all diapers in the same spot, so all filthy diapers go in the same receptacle, and you stay away from a "surprise" in the guest bathroom 2 weeks later.
- Change your disposable brand at regular intervals. Seems strange, but numerous parents swear this helps!
So what do you do if the general sense approaches are a no-go?
Attempt some of these, instead:
- Sprinkle preparing soda in the bottom of the diaper pail each time you take out the full bag.
- Put a coffee filter in the bottom of the diaper pail.
- Toss in a couple of whole cloves.
- Place a dryer sheet in the rear of the pail.
- Deposit old coffee grounds in a plastic compartment and abandon it in the bottom of the pail.
- Heck, toss Every one of those things in the bottom of the pail at the same time.
- Keep a spray container of white vinegar and spray it into the pail each time you exhaust it.
- Take a half lemon, rub out all the flesh and fill it with salt. Then put it at the bottom of the pail, supplanting it when it gets "cake-y."
- Pick up some Multicat Litter at the market and pour it into an old sock, tying it off like a ball. Then secure it to the top of the diaper pail.
Essential oil solutions for diaper dumps
As a significant number of you know, I'm not a "there's an oil for that" sort of person. I do use essential oils for a couple of things, but my first instinct with a cerebral pain is still Tylenol.
That said, numerous moms are discovering that essential oils can do some quite cool things. Like influencing moods and disinfecting things… precisely the results you're searching for in your diaper pail problem.
So I asked my go-to-oil-lady, Jeralyn Mulkey, to share her essential oil-remedies for a stinky diaper pail. Here are her tips:
- Attach 5-10 drops of Eucalyptus oil to a cotton ball in the bottom of the pail (between the pail and the bag).
- Clean the diaper pail with a mix of heated water and several drops of OnGuard or Melaleuca.
- Diffuse some lavender in the nursery. (Bonus: it can help make babies sleepy!)
If you're interested in using essential oils, converse with Jeralyn on her Facebook page. She is not pushy by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I knew her for a whole YEAR before I discovered she even did essential oils.
Products for code-red stench removal
Sometimes, you just need a "buy it and use it" solution. Life is excessively insane, making it impossible to influence your lemon-to cake deodorizers, isn't that so?
Here are a couple of fast "improved the situation you" solutions:
- Pick up some pooper scooper bags. Sure, it's for pooch crap… but if it's strong enough for a 95-lb golden retriever's Chewbacca Chunks, it will improve the situation your little dude's dingleberries
- If you'd rather not wrap up the poopy diapers separately, purchase some scent square trash bags and call it done. You had me at "protected double activity smell control innovation."
- Spray the diaper evolving area (and inside of the pail) with Mrs. Meyer's Ordinary cleaner – it's eco-friendly, so you don't need to feel regretful about not influencing your lemon-to cake deodorizers.
- Charcoal is a natural dehumidifier – absorbing moisture, reducing condensation and bacteria, those things that cause your nose to wrinkle. This brand is an Amazon top pick.
Purchase another best diaper pail deodorizer with each baby.
